Version 8 of 8

THE ORCHID ROOM

What you owe the men who came home with you

Setting · Hell's Kitchen, NYC — 1946–1948 Scale · Extra Long Tone · Warm character comedy meets postwar drama. Deals over…

A scarred WW2 vet returns to Manhattan to claim a struggling Hell's Kitchen nightclub left to him in the will. Over two years he builds it into an empire — or loses everything — while juggling old army buddies turned partners, an FBI Red-hunter, a rising crime family, and the nightmares he brought home. Six endings: Empire, Crew, Legacy, Broker, Walkaway, Fighter.

The system at its best. The whole game — 101 scenes, 676 voiced lines — was built overnight, and nothing failed.

The Tone

Warm character comedy meets postwar drama. Deals over cigarettes; laughs from the gap between what people say and what they mean. The Red Scare as weather, not plot device — until it is.

What was new in this version

  1. One character watches the whole game without speaking, then gives the verdict at the end.
  2. Every ending tells you what happens that night, what you do next, what happens to everyone you knew, and one closing line.
  3. Nothing new to invent. The system was finished — this game just used it well.
